Breast milk science IS a thing (and it’s our thing!). That’s why we worked with the leading scientists and researchers in the field, working hand-in-hand with them to help solve one of the biggest gaps between breastmilk and formula—protein! Together we developed a patented protein blend that’s closest to breast milk.
Sourcing
We believe shaking the hands of the people we’re doing business with is not just a plus, but a non-negotiable. We work exclusively with suppliers we know and trust and, more than that, suppliers who share our core beliefs and values. We’re proud of every partner we choose to work with.
Manufacturing
We’re the first new US infant formula manufacturer in 15 years—owning end-to-end manufacturing. And that’s a big deal because what you own, you can control. We’re thrilled to own factories across the country now, in Pennsylvania, Iowa and Oregon.
Testing
The first 1,000 days of a baby’s life are crucial for the development of their body, brain, metabolism, and immune system! That’s why we’re so proud to be the only US-made infant formula to receive Clean Label Project’s First 1,000 Day Promise Certification—their highest tier thanks to rigorous third-party contaminant testing.
Packaging
It’s so much more than just a pretty can. Ours is all-metal, so if you don’t reuse it in one of the fabulous ways you’ll find on our Instagram @byheart (hello, flower planter!), you can feel good about chucking it in the recycling bin. Plus, our ingenious Scoop Lock technology, means you never have to dig in the powder to find the scoop.

We’re here to innovate everything, even our manufacturing processes. That’s why we built from the ground up—to become the first new infant formula manufacturer in the US in 15 years (we’re one of only five in the entire country)—owning our entire manufacturing process soup to nuts.
For us, "clean" isn't just a buzzword. We actually prove it.
To become Clean Label Project Certified, you have to test for 400 contaminants…we test for 700. In 2021, we were the first infant formula to receive this certification (and to win their highest-tier Purity Award!).
